Father's Day Scorcher

First of all on Saturday we went into Milford-on-Sea to look at the new beach huts.  The original 119 1960s terraced concrete huts were severely damaged in a huge storm on Valentine's Day 2014.

A walkway has also been installed along the top of the huts with spectacular views of the Solent and The Needles.

We  then turned back and headed towards Barton-on-Sea along the cliff top.  This is a pleasant stroll along the low cliffs overlooking the sea with dramatic views.  The coast here is extremely eroded and this path has only just reopened after the storms.
                                                    The original path!!

Saw dolphins just off the coast and after this lovely walk a cool glass of beer and some bubbles.

On Sunday we celebrated the men in our lives with a Fathers' Day Brunch party on the patio at Alun and Gemma's in glorious sunshine.  (Except Mike wasn't there because he had gone to Le Mans).

It was nice to spoil the Daddies a little bit.  Their whole lives revolve  around loving, supporting, and taking care of us and the children and they deserve it.

The children love to celebrate anything.  Easy, casual and fun.  Perfect for our family.

Unfortunately, Alun then had to leave at lunch to go to work.

We were going to go by ferry from Christchurch to Hengistbury Head Beach for a picnic lunch but decided that, without shade on the boat, we would fry and instead spent a very relaxing afternoon in Caroline's garden.

Then when the sun had cooled a little we walked to the little Wick ferry to cross the river Stour to the Captain's Club, where we sat outside with beautiful river views and enjoyed Tapas and Pimms.

What a fabulous sunny weekend.  A tropical blast from the Azores sent temperatures into the low-30s.
