Exploring Lyme Regis and Beer

John and Julia invited us to stay with them in Somerset and treated us to a trip to Lyme Regis, part of the Jurassic Coast famous for geology and fossils, it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.  The beach and cliffs are rather spectacular and I loved the ammonite shaped lamp posts.

Lyme Regis' harbour wall is called the Cobb and was built as a breakwater to protect ships and the town.

We walked along the Cobb - it's pretty cool as it curves around and you can walk on top of the wall as well as down by the water.  Famous for a certain film too.

After a delicious lunch of  local Crab we  drove the short distance to Beer in East Devon.  What a beautiful little coastal town.  Beautiful smooth pebbles.  Pretty wooden beach huts.  Stripey deckchairs.  Stunning white cliffs.  It was just magical, sitting on the pebbles enjoying a pot of tea.

Thank you we really enjoyed our day at the Jurassic Coast.  Thank you for your hospitality too, so lovely to catch up.

And thank you also to Alan and Janet for a delicious lunch stop on our way home.
