Mother's Day Treat

Beautiful weather for Mother's Day Weekend so we decided to go for a walk in the New Forest.

At the far western edge of Hampshire is this must do New Forest walk for families.  Beside the car park at Rockford Common is a huge natural sand pit that children love racing up and down.

There is also a wide, shallow ford in Dockens Water, perfect for paddling.

At the top of the sandpit you can admire great views over Hampshire and neighbouring Dorset county with surrounding lakes and the river Avon. The area behind the sandpit has some brilliant circular walks, both short and long.  We went for a short 3k stroll with the New Forest ponies walking with us.  A lovely dog also made friends with us letting us throw his stick whilst children played hide and seek amongst the shrubbery.

Jamie and Chloe enjoyed an ice cream from Scoopa Nan.

Just down the road is the Alice Lisle (the last woman to be beheaded for harbouring fugitives) pub with lake views where we enjoyed drinks and dinner.

It was a great day, spending some quality time with the family plus I didn't have to cook.  I was also spoiled with a bouquet of flowers, chocolates and bubbly.  Thank you so much.
