Birthday Celebrations at The Jetty

On Sunday, Caroline's birthday, we went to The Jetty for lunch to celebrate not only Caroline's birthday but Gemma and Mike's birthdays too.  February is "birthday month"

waiting for the party to begin.

The Jetty is set right on the water's edge looking across to Mudeford Quay.  When you walk in you just want to stand and gaze!

What a wonderful relaxed atmosphere.  It's a fantastic place to gather, open a bottle of wine, take in the breathtaking views and choose something from the totally delicious menu.

I love the family coming together for great food and lots of laughs.
Sadly Alun had to work.  We missed you.

Emmie loved the popcorn served in a shell.

Have you ordered yet?

We ordered from the Sunday Menu.  Favourites were the hand-dived scallops from Weymouth as a starter and beef wellington.  The fish was also excellent.  I had soft boiled egg wrapped in saltcod brandade, then Solent cod topped with Mudeford crab and herb crust, mashed potatoes and peas.  Dessert was hot passion fruit souffle with hot passion fruit sauce.  All delicious.

Food outstanding, view amazing, service second to none.  They catered to our every need, even bringing out a strawberry on a stick to keep Emmie and Chloe happy.

Yum Yum, try Grandad

Chloe agreed.

And they were happy - so well behaved.  A credit to their parents.

We all agreed we had found a place we will return to time and time again.  Can't wait to visit again in the warmer weather as the terrace overlooking the sea was just glorious even on a cold but sunny February day.

I've always been a big birthday person.  I think it's important to celebrate and acknowledge the passing of another year, and I like to mark the occasion with a candle and cake.  But we were too full to partake at the Jetty although they were more than happy to oblige.  So we decided, after a brisk walk around Mudeford Quay, to return to Caroline's where singing Happy Birthday is, of course, part of the celebration.

Only Emmie managed to eat some of the cake.  Good girl.

Time for a story and then bed.  The end of a wonderful day.
