A memorable bright-eyed-and bushy-tailed moment for my Grandson. He was enthusiastic too!!
I remember him starting school, seems like only yesterday.
The big kid in me was thrilled though and we grandies suffer none of the fretting, nibbling inside anxious parents. Parents are thrilled that their children are growing up and learning new tricks but saddened they're no longer babies.
I certainly felt that with mine - delight at landmarks like day one in school, tinged by sorrowful regret earlier times were past. Yet for the bewitched grandparents it's joy, happiness and pride all the way.
Receiving photographs of grandchildren in school uniforms is a rite of passage and I'm now a fully paid up member of the club.
The school moment is one to cherish and commemorate, generating a warm glow in older grandparents.
Good teachers and schools are worth their weight in gold, expertly enthusing their pupils. Jamie is looking forward to joining Chloe. Shame the exhilarated spirit can't be bottled for GCSE's and A-levels when a teenager may no longer be quite so keen!
We grandees are here for the best bits and have the photos to prove it.
